Panchayat leaders donate Rs 7.7 Cr to CM’s relief fund for flood victims

Andhra Pradesh: In a generous act of solidarity, the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Chamber, led by State President YVB Rajendra Prasad, announced a donation of Rs 7.7 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This contribution, comprising one month’s honorarium of sarpanches and other local body members, is aimed at aiding flood-affected areas in the state. The donation was handed over to the Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, marking a significant show of support from rural leaders.
Flood relief donation by local body leaders
Following the devastating floods in Andhra Pradesh, the Panchayat Raj Chamber, along with leaders of the Andhra Pradesh Sarpanch Association, held an emergency Zoom meeting under the leadership of State President YVB Rajendra Prasad. In the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the honorarium of sarpanches, MPTCs, MPPs, and ZPTCs would be donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support the flood-hit areas. The total sum amounted to Rs 7.7 crores, symbolizing the commitment of local bodies to assist in the relief operations.
Resolution presented to Deputy CM
A resolution document detailing the decision was personally handed over to the Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan by YVB Rajendra Prasad, along with other state committee leaders. They expressed their desire for the funds to be directed towards the rehabilitation of communities affected by the recent heavy rains and floods. Pawan Kalyan acknowledged the gesture and promised to work towards ensuring the relief reaches those in need swiftly.
Leaders express commitment to support local communities
Speaking at the event, YVB Rajendra Prasad emphasized the importance of standing by the people in times of crisis. “The sarpanches and local body members have come forward to offer their one month’s honorarium to the relief fund, which is a collective effort to help those who are suffering due to the floods,” he said. The Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Chamber has taken this step as part of its commitment to the welfare of rural areas.
The event saw the participation of key leaders, including State General Secretary Birru Pratap Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Sarpanchula Association State General Secretary Pagadala Ramesh, State Vice Presidents CJ Kondaiah, Lenin Babu, Ravella Sudhakar, State Official Representative Galla Timothy, and Guntur District Sarpanch Association President Kalluri Srinivas, among others. Their collective effort underscores the role of grassroots leadership in addressing natural disasters and aiding in recovery.
