CPM demands action after fire accident at Ravulacheruvu Diwali Factory

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: A gas cylinder explosion at the Diwali ammunition manufacturing plant in Ravulacheruvu, Amalapuram, Konaseema District, on Sunday left nearly 20 people injured and caused extensive damage to nearby homes. The CPM District Committee, led by Dr. B R Ambedkar Konaseema District Convener Kaarem Venkateswara Rao, has urged the government to take immediate action in support of the victims.

CPM calls for better treatment and Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia

Following the accident, a CPM delegation visited the injured at the local area hospital. Speaking at the site, Kaarem expressed sorrow over the incident, demanding that the government provide better medical care for the injured. “The government should support the families of the victims in every way and ensure proper treatment for all those affected,” he said, calling for Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to be immediately granted to each of the injured.

Negligence of officials blamed for incident

Kaarem criticized the government authorities, stating that the explosion was a result of official negligence. “This tragedy highlights the laxity of government officials in granting permissions without thorough inspections,”he said. He stressed that Diwali ammunition manufacturing centers should be carefully examined for safety compliance before being granted licenses. He accused certain brokers and officials of facilitating illegal operations by granting permissions without adequate oversight.

Demand for accountability

The CPM leader demanded that strict action be taken against the officials responsible for the incident.
“Those responsible for allowing such unsafe practices must be suspended from duty immediately,” he said, urging the government to ensure that all fire safety protocols are strictly enforced in factories dealing with hazardous materials.

CPM leaders visit victims

Alongside Kaarem Venkateswara Rao, CPM District leaders K Shankar and Polamuri Srinivasa Rao visited the victims and their families at the hospital, reiterating their call for justice and governmental support. The party urged swift and decisive measures to prevent future incidents of this kind.
