RPI condemns eviction of 57 families from Agadala Lanka village

Eluru – Andhra Pradesh: Matte Babi, State General Secretary of the Republican Party of India (RPI), condemned the indiscriminate eviction of 57 families from Agadala Lanka village, calling it an “evil” act driven by selfish motives. This statement came during a press conference held on Wednesday at the local ladies’ club in Eluru City. The conference was organized by the Republican Party of India to address the concerns of residents from Bhimadolu Mandal and Agadala Lanka village.

Eviction criticized as unjustifiable

During the press conference at the Ladies Club in Eluru, Matte Babi condemned the eviction of 57 families, stating that these residents have lived in Agadala Lanka for generations, with valid documentation such as Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and ration cards to prove their residence. He emphasized that the eviction was not justified and appeared to be driven by local vested interests.

Local farmers oppose eviction

Several local farmers, including Laina Pamu Venkateswara Rao, Kanamala Adamu, Chigurupati Yehoshua, Madda Paparao, and Madda Chinnabbai, have reportedly resisted the eviction and are working to support the affected families. Matte Babi urged for their efforts to continue and called for immediate action to halt the forced evictions.

Absence of village elders’ intervention

Matte Babi expressed disappointment over the lack of intervention from village elders Uchchula Joseph, Chigurupati Subhakara Rao, Vatlur Sundara Rao, and Madda John Babu. He questioned the absence of justice in the matter and criticized the current governance as failing to uphold principles of fairness and equity.

Widespread community concern

A range of local residents and activists, including Nallamilli Mariamma, Gorinkala Bebamma, Mudda Margaret, Kancharla Ramanamma, and others, attended the press conference to express solidarity with the evicted families. The gathering emphasized the need for justice and questioned the authorities’ role in facilitating the eviction.

Constitutional and Legal Concerns Matte Babi further criticized the governance in the village, pointing out that actions like these contradict constitutional rights. He questioned the local authorities and compared the current situation to a “Kolleru constitution,” implying a lack of legal adherence in the eviction process.
