Dornakal police bust inter-district robbery gang, recover stolen goods worth Rs 4.54 lakh

Telangana: Mahabubabad District SP Sudhir Ramnath Kekan disclosed the details of a major breakthrough in a case involving an inter-district robbery gang during a media conference on Tuesday. The gang was caught during a vehicle check by Dornakal police, leading to the recovery of stolen property, including electric motors, motorcycles, and iron rods, valued at approximately Rs 4.54 lakh. The gang had been active in Mahabubabad and Khammam districts for the past four months.

Details of the arrest and seized property

During a routine vehicle check at Babu Jagjeevan Ram Bomma at 8 AM on Tuesday, Dornakal CI, SI, and their team, including officers R Saidulu and S Suryanarayan, intercepted an Ashok Leyland trolley vehicle attempting to flee. Upon further investigation, police discovered two stolen scooties inside the vehicle and uncovered that the occupants had been stealing electric motors and iron goods across various areas. The police seized the following from the accused:

1. 19 Well Electric Motors
2. Ashok Leyland Trolley (TS 04 UD 7897)
3. Two Scooties: One without a number plate (Chassis No. ME4JF98FFRW010187) and another (TS 04 FA 8726).
4. Rs 70,000 in Cash

Further investigation revealed that one of the prime accused, Muthyalu, had hired a trolley vehicle from her friend Nagalakshmi to facilitate the thefts. The stolen motorcycles, totaling 19 motors, were hidden at the residence of another accused, Tejawat Jawaharlal, in Puvvada Udai Nagar Colony, Khammam.

Profiles of the accused

The individuals were arrested in connection with the robberies were: 1. Veeraboina Muthyalu: 36 years, Mudiraj caste, involved in old iron trading, resident of Cheruvu Katta Bazar, Mamillagudem, Khammam. 2. Kotte Ganesh: 21 years, Bolero driver, resident of Mamillagudem, Khammam. 3. Tejawat Sadar Lal: 35 years, occupation Suthari Pani, resident of Mamillagudem, Khammam. 4. Mogili Nagaraju: 20 years, resident of Vepakuntla village, Raghunadhapalem Mandal. 5. Islawat Sidhu: 20 years, resident of Annaram Thanda, Ganugapadu village, Chandrugonda Mandal, Bhadradri Kothagudem District. 6. Tejawat Johar Lal: 38 years, centering work, resident of Puvvada Samut Nagar Colony, Raghunathapalem Mandal, Khammam District.

Three of the accused, Mogili Nagaraju, Tejawat Sadar Lal, and Veeraboina Mutyalu, had prior cases registered against them in various police stations.

Details of the stolen property and locations

The gang primarily targeted electric motors and iron goods across different mandals in Mahabubabad and Khammam districts. The following items were stolen:

Mahabubabad District

1. Seven motors and one and a half tonnes of iron rods from Dornakal Mandal.
2. Two motors from Kurivi Mandal.
3. One motor from Narsimhulupet Mandal.

Khammam District

4. Five motors from Raghunathapalem Mandal.
5. Two motors from Vepakuntla village.
6. One motor from Tallada Mandal.
7. One motor from Khammam Rural.

The total value of the recovered property is estimated to be around Rs 4,54,000.

Search for remaining accused

The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the remaining gang members, including Srinu, Venkatesh, Shiva, and two juveniles. The operation is part of an ongoing effort to curb inter-district criminal activities and ensure the safety of the local communities.
