Journalists demand severe punishment for attackers !!!

Andhra Pradesh:- Local journalists in Giddalur have submitted a memorandum to Circle Inspector Somaiah, urging the registration of attempted murder charges against individuals who recently attacked members of the press. The journalists emphasized the need for stringent punishment to deter future assaults on media professionals.

Violence against journalists increasing in Andhra Pradesh

This incident adds to the growing list of violent attacks on journalists in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting a troubling trend that threatens press freedom in the state. Recently, in Vijayawada, a reporter was brutally beaten while covering a political rally, resulting in serious injuries. Similarly, in Visakhapatnam, a journalist was attacked by unidentified assailants after publishing an investigative report on local corruption. Similarly in Anantapur as well. These incidents underscore the dangerous environment journalists face in Andhra Pradesh and the urgent need for protective measures and strict legal action against perpetrators.

The Giddalur journalists stressed the critical role of a free press in a democratic society and the necessity of safeguarding journalists from violence and intimidation. They called for immediate and decisive action to ensure justice for the victims and to prevent future attacks.

The local journalism community stands united in demanding accountability and protection, urging authorities to take these threats seriously and uphold the safety and rights of media professionals in Andhra Pradesh.
