RINL launches vigilance awareness week, urges commitment to integrity and transparency

Andhra Pradesh: Visakhapatnam Steel Plant executives and employees pledge to foster an ethical workplace culture under this year’s theme, “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity.”

Vigilance awareness week begins with integrity pledge

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, launched Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 on Monday, underscoring the importance of integrity in creating a fair and accountable workplace. The event began with an Integrity Pledge, organized in accordance with Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines, and attended by senior leaders, including CMD (additional charge) AK Saxena, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) Dr. S Karuna Raju, Director (Personnel) SC Pandey, Director (Finance) CH SRVGK Ganesh, Director (Commercial) GVN Prasad, Chief General Managers, and employees at RINL’s Administration Building.

“Culture of Integrity” as the theme for national and organizational progress

This year’s theme, “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity,” underscores vigilance as a driver for both organizational excellence and national progress. AK Saxena emphasized the role of each employee in upholding ethical standards and described integrity as the cornerstone of operations. “Vigilance is not just a duty; it’s a shared responsibility to build a fair and trustworthy workplace,” Saxena said, urging all employees to embody vigilance as a proactive, preventive measure against unethical practices.

Leadership commitment to ethical practices and transparent operations

Leading by example, RINL’s leadership took the Integrity Pledge in Telugu, Hindi, and English, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to integrity and ethical conduct. Saxena encouraged employees to conduct preventive vigilance activities, strengthen transparency measures, and follow standardized procurement practices in line with government protocols. He noted that a proactive approach to vigilance bolsters RINL’s standard of excellence, contributing to a fairer work environment and a more prosperous organization.

CVO’s call to action: Bribery-free environment and accountability

Dr. S Karuna Raju, CVO of RINL, highlighted integrity as the foundation of sustainable growth, urging employees to act as ethical role models in their professional lives. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on bribery, he reiterated, “I will not give bribe; I will not take bribe,” encouraging employees to promptly report any unethical conduct. He stated that fostering a culture of accountability and transparency strengthens both the organization and the nation.

Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and pledge for ethical leadership

At the event, Saxena, Raju, and the Directors of RINL paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at the main administrative building, symbolizing their dedication to fostering an ethical workplace. Saxena praised Raju’s preventive vigilance efforts through RINL’s Vigilance Department and committed to further initiatives in promoting ethical practices within the organization.
