New Delhi: Workshop in New Delhi focuses on enhancing Eklavya Model Residential Schools’ construction standards to ensure quality education for tribal students.

Commitment to timely, high-quality construction for EMRS

On October 24, the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) organized a workshop titled “Building Quality Infrastructure for Tribal Education” at Akashvani Bhawan in New Delhi. Inaugurated by NESTS Commissioner Ajeet K Srivastava, the event underscored the government’s commitment to providing robust educational infrastructure through Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) to improve learning conditions for tribal students. Srivastava urged attendees to prioritize quality and complete EMRS projects on schedule, remarking, “Non-completion of good quality EMRS on time means tribal children not going to school, which is unacceptable.”

Focus on technical and cultural considerations in construction

The workshop covered essential technical topics such as geotechnical investigations, material testing, earthwork, and construction practices tailored for tribal areas. Civil engineers, project managers, and architects in attendance discussed the newly introduced “Building Quality Infrastructure for Tribal Education” handbook, highlighting best practices aligned with tribal regions’ unique geographical and cultural requirements for sustainable development.

Innovative educational programs for holistic development

NESTS showcased its commitment to multifaceted development through modern educational programs like the Amazon Future Engineering initiative and the Principal’s Conclave, which focuses on academic and administrative excellence. These initiatives aim to provide not only quality infrastructure but also advanced learning opportunities, reinforcing NESTS’ vision for comprehensive educational support for tribal students.

Collaborative sessions and problem-solving

Interactive sessions explored project planning, architectural layout considerations, and quality assurance in construction. Experts and participants engaged in Q&A sessions to address specific challenges in EMRS construction, discussing solutions for material testing, effective project management, and reinforcement practices crucial to tribal education infrastructure.

Advancing equal opportunities for tribal students

This pioneering workshop marks a significant milestone in NESTS’ mission to enhance educational access and infrastructure for tribal communities, reflecting its dedication to creating equal educational opportunities for all tribal students.
