APHPC and GAS demand action over brutal police assault on Dalit woman

Shad Nagar – Telangana: C L Yadagiri, President and General Secretary of the APHPC (Anagaarina Prajala Hakkula Poraata Committee) and GAS (Gaddar Abhimanula Sangham), has urgently called for action in response to the brutal police assault on a Dalit woman in Shad Nagar. Yadagiri’s statement highlights the severe misconduct by police and demands immediate accountability and reform to address this egregious violation of human rights.
Shocking Incident
The recent brutal assault of a Dalit woman has sent shockwaves across the region. The woman, accused of stealing gold, was severely beaten and tortured by Shad Nagar police reportedly, according to the press note, the police, stripped her of her clothes and subjected her to such extreme violence that she was left unable to walk.
Demand for justice and accountability
Leaders from APHPC and GAS have expressed deep shock over the incident. They have called for condemnation from intellectuals and demand immediate action. They urged the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to conduct a thorough investigation into the conduct of the police involved and to transfer those responsible to the police headquarters. C L Yadagiri has also called for SC atrocity and criminal charges to be filed against the implicated police, along with their dismissal.

The APHPC and GAS questioned the lack of action from various bodies, including the Women’s Commission, Human Rights Commission, and both State and National SC Commissions. Yadagiri highlighted the failure of Dalit MLAs, MLCs, MPs, opposition parties, and women’s associations to address the issue, demanding that the police and related authorities be held accountable for their actions.
