Mancherial: In the wake of multiple incidents of student illness at ashram schools, Telangana Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi Party State President Gavwala Srikanth has demanded strict action against alleged negligence by social welfare officials. Srikanth visited affected students in Mancherial government hospital on Thursday, urging a comprehensive investigation to ensure student safety and accountability within the department.

Concerns over student health and safety

Srikanth expressed grave concerns over the health risks faced by ashram students, attributing recent cases of illness to official negligence. He warned that lives are being put in danger due to a lack of proactive measures in student welfare institutions.

Allegations of bribery and mismanagement

The Telangana VBA leader alleged that the Social Welfare Department is “intoxicated by commissions,” implying that corruption has impacted their focus on student safety. Srikanth emphasized that mismanagement within the department is compromising the welfare of vulnerable students.

Call for government intervention and accountability

To prevent further incidents, Srikanth urged the state government to form an independent committee to investigate the series of health-related incidents at ashram schools. He proposed that the committee should include ministers and student union leaders to ensure transparency and credibility in the investigation process.

Demand for long-term reforms

Highlighting the need for reform, Srikanth called on the government to take preventive measures and establish clear accountability within the Social Welfare Department. He insisted on structural changes to protect students and avoid repeating the tragedies that have plagued the state’s ashram institutions.
