RPC demands action on special status and KG Basin wealth

Andhra Pradesh: In a weekend meeting at the Rashtriya Praja Congress (RPC) headquarters, RPC Founding President Meda Srinivas sharply criticized the Chandrababu government for its failure to address critical issues in Andhra Pradesh. Srinivas condemned the government for allegedly sending ineffective politicians to the assembly and parliament, emphasizing that promises made to the public have remained unfulfilled. “The state’s infrastructure is deteriorating, roads are in disrepair, and basic necessities like clean drinking water and sanitation are lacking,” Srinivas said. He highlighted that these issues are exacerbated by the proliferation of fake essential goods, which pose significant health risks to the population.
Government’s empty promises and inaction
Srinivas lamented that despite a strong mandate from the people of Andhra Pradesh and widespread opposition to Modi’s government across the country, Chandrababu’s coalition has failed to leverage this opportunity to secure special status and other crucial dues for the state. He criticized the government for its ineffective approach, stating that the promises made in the assembly have turned into empty words. “The Andhra Pradesh Assembly is being run as if it were a charity, with no concrete results or progress,” he said.
Comparison with Bihar’s leaders
Srinivas urged Andhra’s leaders to learn from the approach of Bihar’s leaders, who have been putting significant pressure on the Modi government for their state’s needs. He criticized the local leaders for their silence and lack of assertiveness in advocating for Andhra Pradesh’s rights. “The rulers of Bihar are pushing hard for their demands, whereas our leaders remain passive and ineffective,” Srinivas noted.
Criticizing hypocrisy
The RPC leader also took aim at actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan, accusing him of hypocrisy. “Before the elections, Pawan Kalyan vehemently criticized Modi for offering spoiled laddus to the Andhras. Now, he seems to be singing Modi’s praises,”. He demanded to know who was benefiting from the “rotten laddus” and questioned Kalyan’s integrity.
Editorial bias
Srinivas expressed concern over what he described as “paid journalism” that undermines the sanctity of media. He accused some media outlets of diminishing the significance of special status and manipulating editorial content to favour corporate interests. “The Modi government is robbing Andhra Pradesh of its wealth and resources under the guise of loans,” Srinivas said, criticizing both the central government and Chandrababu’s coalition for failing to secure the state’s rightful dues.
Call for political change
Concluding his remarks, Meda Srinivas called for a significant shift in the political landscape, asserting that Andhra Pradesh’s future depends on the resignation of Chandrababu’s coalition and a renewed commitment to addressing the state’s pressing issues.
