RPF-Eastern Railway has providing better safety and security for women passengers !!!

Kolkata :-Railway Protection Force (RPF)/Eastern Railway has implemented various measures aimed at providing better safety and security for women passengers traveling on Eastern Railway. These initiatives underscore RPF’s commitment to ensuring the well-being and protection of all passengers, particularly women, during their railway journeys.

• Escorting of Trains: To enhance safety during train journeys, RPF escorts a total of 156 Mail/Express, 165 EMU/DMU/MEMU, 6 passenger trains, and 12 ladies special trains. Notably, 74 of these trains are escorted jointly by both male and female staff, ensuring comprehensive security coverage for all passengers, including women.

• “Meri Saheli” Teams: RPF has deployed “Meri Saheli” teams consisting of 525 lady officers and staff at 15 important railway stations. These teams are dedicated to assisting women passengers traveling alone and ensuring their safety and security from the originating station to their destination. The teams attend to 76 trains over Eastern Railway, providing invaluable support and assistance to women travelers.

• “Matangani Squads”: For the Suburban section, RPF has deployed “Matangani Squads” consisting of 56 lady officers and staff at 25 important railway stations. These squads are tasked with checking coaches reserved for women passengers and ensuring their security throughout their journey, thereby enhancing the safety and confidence of women travelers.

• Child Help Desks: In addition to measures for women passengers, RPF has established Child Help Desks at Howrah, Sealdah, Malda, Bhagalpur, Sahibganj, and Asansol stations. These desks are operated by Child Help Groups comprising Railway, GRP, and NGOs, aimed at providing security and support to children traveling on railways.

These initiatives demonstrate RPF’s proactive approach towards enhancing passenger safety and fostering a secure travel environment across Eastern Railway. By prioritizing passenger welfare and security, RPF continues to uphold its commitment to ensuring a safe and comfortable travel experience for all.
