PM Modi inaugurates railway projects, distributes PMAY-G sanction letters

Tatanagar – Jharkhand: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several railway projects worth over Rs 660 crore in Jharkhand through video conferencing on Sunday. He also distributed sanction letters to 32,000 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and flagged off six Vande Bharat trains from Tatanagar Junction, marking a significant step in the state’s development.
Boost to railway connectivity and infrastructure
PM Modi dedicated various railway projects, including the laying of the foundation for the Madhupur Bypass line in Deoghar and the Hazaribagh Town Coaching Depot. These projects are set to reduce travel time between Giridih and Jasidih and improve the maintenance of coaching stocks. “Modern railway infrastructure is key to fast-paced development,” PM Modi said, highlighting the importance of the Kurkura-Kanaroan line doubling, which will improve passenger and goods mobility on the Rourkela-Gomoh route.
Strengthening Eastern India’s economy
The Prime Minister emphasized that the expansion of railway infrastructure will boost Eastern India’s economy, benefiting local businesses and creating employment opportunities. He mentioned that the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat train will facilitate pilgrims visiting Baba Baidyanath in Deoghar, promoting tourism and industrial growth in Tatanagar.
Empowering the poor with PMAY-G
Modi also distributed the first installment of housing assistance to 32,000 PMAY-G beneficiaries in Jharkhand, emphasizing the scheme’s transformative power. “When a family gets its own house, their self-confidence grows, and they can dream of a better future,” he remarked, adding that PMAY-G houses are built with essential facilities like electricity, water, and toilets.
Commitment to tribal development
The Prime Minister reiterated his government’s focus on empowering the poor, Dalit, deprived, and tribal communities. He highlighted the PM Janman Yojana, which aims to uplift the most marginalized tribes by providing access to housing, roads, and education. “Efforts are underway to ensure a developed Jharkhand,” he added, expressing confidence that the projects inaugurated would bring about substantial progress in the region.
Investment in Jharkhand’s railway network
PM Modi announced that the central government had allocated more than Rs 7,000 crore to Jharkhand for railway development in this year’s budget, a sixteenfold increase from a decade ago. He commended the state for achieving 100% electrification of its railway lines and rejuvenating more than 50 stations under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station scheme.
Despite being unable to attend in person due to weather conditions, PM Modi assured the people of Jharkhand that the government’s commitment to their progress remains steadfast, with many more development projects in the pipeline.
