Andhra Pradesh:- Meda Srinivas, President of Rashtriya Praja Congress, has appealed to YS Sharmila, President of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), K Ramakrishna, Secretary of CPI Andhra Pradesh, and Srinivasa Rao, Secretary of CPM Andhra Pradesh, to form a “People’s Opposition Alliance.” This appeal follows concerns over the political landscape resulting from the May 13, 2024, election, which Srinivas believes poses a danger to the state’s future.

Srinivas highlighted the lack of a strong opposition in the Assembly, noting that the Janasena party, which could fulfill this role, is aligned with the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and shares power with them. He expressed concern over the close relationship between Andhra Pradesh leaders Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan with the Modi government, fearing it might lead to unilateral decisions in the Assembly without sufficient opposition.

Srinivas stressed that this development is harmful to democracy and called for experienced leaders and political movements in Andhra Pradesh to unite and form a platform for the “People’s Opposition Alliance.” He urged the CPI, CPM, and Congress parties to collaborate and take on a primary role in this alliance, emphasizing the need for a robust opposition to ensure balanced governance and safeguard the state’s future.

In his letter, Srinivas assured the leaders of his support in this endeavor, emphasizing the importance of their joint efforts for the development and democratic integrity of Andhra Pradesh.
