Kolkata/Asansol:– In the early hours of April 16, 2024, Asansol station witnessed a truly remarkable event as Smt. Sita Choudhury, a passenger aboard Train No. 18449 Puri Patna Express, unexpectedly went into labor on Platform 06. Despite the suddenness of the situation, the Eastern Railway’s officers and staff sprang into action. Upon receiving the urgent call, Dy. SS/Asansol and the Railway Protection Force/Asansol team rushed to the scene, demonstrating exceptional professionalism and compassion.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the station, a makeshift delivery room was created near the Pay & Use Toilet, where Smt. Choudhury safely delivered her newborn baby. The quick thinking and coordinated efforts of the railway personnel ensured that both mother and baby received immediate medical attention. They were promptly transported to Sub Divisional Hospital Asansol by a Railway ambulance, where they were admitted to the female ward for further care under the supervision of Dr. Bansi Vishal.
This heartwarming incident not only showcased the efficiency of Eastern Railway’s staff in handling unexpected situations but also highlighted their humanity and dedication to ensuring the well-being of passengers, even in the most extraordinary circumstances.
Heroic Rescue By RPF at Durgapur Station
On the evening of April 21, 2024, Durgapur station became the scene of a potential tragedy when a passenger fell onto the platform gap while attempting to board Train No. 13121 UP Ghazipur City Weekly Express. The sudden halt of the train, caused by the activation of the Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) in coach no. 222545 (M-1), caught everyone by surprise. Amidst the confusion, it was discovered that a passenger, identified as Sanjoy Kumar Pandey, had fallen and was in grave danger.
The RPF Post Durgapur staff, led by Shri T. Sinha / Head Constable and Smt Asima das Lady Constable, acted swiftly and decisively. With the help of alert passengers and on-duty staff, they managed to pull Mr. Pandey to safety, preventing what could have been a tragic accident. Despite the urgency of the situation, their calm and coordinated efforts ensured that Mr. Pandey received immediate medical attention and was spared from harm.
This courageous rescue not only underscored the importance of vigilance and swift action in ensuring passenger safety but also exemplified the selflessness and dedication of Eastern Railway’s staff in serving and protecting the traveling public.
