Kolkata :-Eastern Railway brought back the crown of All India Railways Men’s Cricket Championship after long 18 years. Recently in 67th All India Railways Men’s Cricket Championship (league phase held at Kharagpur from 01.04.2024 to 07.04.2024 and subsequently Knock out phase held at Patiala from 15.04.2024 to 20.04.2024), Eastern Railway Men’s Cricket team showed an exemplary performance and bagged the championship by defeating South Western Railway in the finals.
67th All India Railway Cricket Championship for men, held during the 2023-24 season, commenced with knockout matches at the PLW Cricket Stadium, under the auspices of Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW) from 16.4.2024. The final match of the tournament was contested between Eastern Railway and South Western Railway.
In the final match, Eastern Railway chose to bat first and scored 247 in 40 overs whereas, the opponent team South Western Railway were all-out in 30.3 overs by scoring 166 runs only.
In respect of individual performance, Eastern Railway Men’s cricket players also shown exemplary feats. Shri Ravi Singh stood Man of the Tournament (scored total 396 runs in the tournament – the highest run getter of the tournament), Shri Raju Halder was declared the Man of the Match for taking 4 wickets in the final whereas, the Best Batter in the final match goes to Shri Deepanshu for scoring 76 runs. Moreover, Shri Ravi Singh has also been selected by the National Cricket Academy for High performance camp for Emerging Under-23 Men’s Championship.
