Memorandum Submitted in Kadapa Seeking Repeal of Anti-Conversion Laws, Protection for Christians 2026

Andhra Pradesh: Members of the Christian Coordination Council of Andhra Pradesh submitted a memorandum at the Kadapa District Collectorate on Wednesday, urging the repeal of anti-conversion laws and demanding enhanced protection for Christians. The representation, submitted as part of a statewide initiative, highlighted concerns over rising attacks on the community and called for constitutional safeguards and equal rights.

Statewide memorandum drive launched

Distrtict President of All India Pastors Federation Mallem Vijaya Bhaskar stated that on March 18, memorandums were submitted at district Collectorates across Andhra Pradesh as part of a coordinated effort to bring the issues faced by Christians to the attention of authorities.

Demand for repeal of anti-conversion laws

Speaking on the occasion, Mallem Vijayabhaskar strongly demanded the repeal of anti-conversion laws, stating that such legislations impose restrictions on religious freedom.

He expressed concern that these laws have already been implemented in several states, limiting the rights of minority communities.

Call for protection to Christians and pastors Anti

The leaders urged both Central and State governments to:

Ensure adequate security for pastors and churches
Take strict action to prevent attacks on Christians
Safeguard places of worship from vandalism and violence

They alleged that existing mechanisms have failed to provide sufficient protection.

Appeal to uphold constitutional rights

Emphasizing India’s secular framework, Bhaskar noted that the Constitution of India guarantees freedom of religion and equality for all citizens. He stressed that discrimination based on caste or religion must not be tolerated and called for *equal justice to all communities*.

SC status for Dalit Christians highlighted

The issue of granting Scheduled Caste (SC) status to Dalit Christians was also raised, with leaders noting that the matter is currently under consideration in the Supreme Court of India. They urged the government to take steps to ensure social justice and equality for Dalit Christians.

Concerns over rising attacks

Expressing concern over increasing incidents, the speakers alleged that:

Attacks on Christians are on the rise across the country
Places of worship are being targeted
Religious sentiments are being hurt through criticism and misrepresentation of scriptures

They pledged to continue raising these issues at the national level, including before the President of India.

Leaders pledge continued protest

The representatives stated that they would continue their struggle until attacks against Christians are completely halted and constitutional protections are fully enforced.

Participation of church leaders

The programme saw participation from several pastors and church representatives, including Sundaram, Vijaya Sekhar, Thomas, Abraham, Rajanna, Johnson, Vinod, Ravi, Prasad, and Prabhudas, among others.
