Dalit Student Allegedly Assaulted by Private School Owner, Probe Demanded

TVYS State President Gavvala Srikanth demands probe into school’s recognition; questions role of education officials

JAGITHYALA – TS: Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu – Assistant Chief Editor: A private school principal has been accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old Dalit girl at Pedda Nakkalapet village in Dharmapuri mandal of Jagithyala district, triggering demands for a thorough probe and stringent action from Dalit and student organisations.

The accused is identified as Salla Srinivas, owner-cum-principal of Sri Sharada Vidyaniketan SS Model School (English Medium).

Visit to Village, Demand for Action

Telangana SC, ST, BC, Minority Students and Youth Association (TVYS) and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) State President Gavvala Srikanth, who said he visited the village on Thursday to ascertain facts, demanded that senior police officials conduct a full inquiry and punish the accused strictly if found guilty.

He urged that local MLA and the Social Welfare and Tribal Welfare Minister look into the matter.

Questions Raised Over School Recognition

Srikanth alleged that the school, which has a board stating it runs classes from nursery to Class 7, may not have government recognition.

He demanded a probe by ACB or CB-CID into the education department officials to bring out the facts and said he would submit representations to district and state authorities seeking action.
