Neglected Kadapa Collectorate should become heritage museum, says RSF
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: The Revolutionary Student Federation (RSF) has urged the district administration to immediately convert the 200-year-old Kadapa Collectorate into a heritage museum, citing its historical significance and present dilapidated condition.
RSF team inspects 200-year-old Collectorate
RSF delegation, led by State President DM Obulesu Yadav, visited the old Collectorate office on Friday. The team examined the condition of the structures and interacted with local residents who expressed concern about the fading legacy of the landmark.
‘Collectorate witnessed key decisions of independent India’
Addressing the media, Obulesu Yadav said the collectorate served as an administrative hub for nearly 78 years after independence, becoming the venue for several crucial decisions affecting the people of Kadapa. Before independence, the British too had relied heavily on the building, making it a structure of layered historical value.
Negligence blamed for building’s decay
He criticised the authorities for allowing the iconic structure to deteriorate. Despite earlier proposals to convert the site into a heritage museum, the plan remained unfulfilled due to administrative negligence, he said.
Call for immediate action
Obulesu Yadav demanded that the District Collector take swift action to preserve the site and forward the proposal to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for protection, restoration, and further development as a heritage museum.
RSF leaders join appeal for preservation
State Working President Dastagiri, District President Shiva, and other RSF members participated in the inspection, reiterating their commitment to safeguarding culturally and historically important structures in the region.
