Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Alleging large-scale exploitation of DWCRA women, the Rayalaseema Mahila Sangh leaders on Saturday demanded strict legal action and removal of Community Resource Persons (CRPs) accused of extorting lakhs of rupees from group members.

CRPs accused of extorting DWCRA members

Addressing media at the RCP office, District President Taslim and Secretary Lakshmi Devi said that CRPs—appointed to guide DWCRA groups on welfare schemes and economic opportunities—have instead become “vultures,” cheating innocent members.
They alleged that CRPs under the supervision of Haji Wali in Ghouse Nagar and Ganjikunta Colony have collected over Rs 6 lakh from members through false promises.

Complaints already submitted to district authorities

The leaders said they had submitted complaints to the District Collector on Nov 4 and earlier as well, after which the issue was forwarded to the Project Director. They expressed concern over the slow pace of inquiry and urged authorities to speed up the investigation into the alleged misconduct.

Threats and harassment reported

According to the Mahila Sangham, CRPs have not only extorted money but have also threatened and intimidated DWCRA members to extract additional sums. The leaders declared that the Rayalaseema Mahila Sangham “will not tolerate” such harassment against vulnerable women.

Demands for dismissal and legal action

The organisation demanded immediate removal of the accused CRPs from service, filing of criminal cases, and stringent legal action—including imprisonment—for those involved in irregularities. Members Shahina and Shabana were also present at the press meet.
