Blood donation drive at RIMS General Hospital
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: A blood donation camp was organised at the Blood Bank of RIMS General Hospital on the occasion of the 38th death anniversary of Madagalam Devdas. The programme was conducted under the auspices of the Shanti Seva Society, founded by social worker Madagalam Prasad.
Call for blood and organ donation awareness
Speaking at the event, Prasad emphasised that donating blood, organs, eyes, and even one’s body after death should be regarded as a lifelong service to society. He noted that while blood cannot be manufactured or purchased, it remains an essential lifesaving resource that must come from voluntary donors.
Health concerns linked to lack of blood availability
Prasad highlighted that anaemia continues to be a major public health issue in the country, contributing to underweight births and preventable deaths. He added that accident victims often lose their lives because blood is not available in time. He urged communities to organise blood donation drives in memory of loved ones and to host awareness programmes on the need for regular donations.
“Life should be lived for others”
Reflecting on values, Prasad said life becomes meaningful when lived in service of others. He remarked that wealth does not accompany individuals beyond death, but acts of service create lasting remembrance. He encouraged people to build a legacy of compassion both during life and after.
Shanti Seva Society’s mission
Prasad reiterated that the Shanti Seva Society was established to support the needy through service-oriented initiatives across the state. He appealed for public participation in the organisation’s humanitarian programmes to assist the poor and vulnerable.
Participants in the blood donation drive
Blood donors included Madagalam Manohar, Maddur Mohan, and Kediri Babu. Others present at the programme included Suresh, Vijay, and members of the society.
