India Post suspends all mail services to United States

New Delhi: The Department of Posts has announced a complete suspension of all categories of mail services to the United States, citing the continued inability of carriers to transport consignments and the absence of regulatory mechanisms.
Booking halted for all categories
The suspension covers letters, documents, and gift items valued up to USD 100. This decision follows an earlier public notice issued on August 22, 2025.
Reason for suspension
Officials said carriers are unable to handle US-bound consignments, leaving no defined mechanism to ensure delivery. The department noted that the situation is being closely monitored.
Refunds available for customers
Customers who have already booked items that could not be dispatched are eligible to claim a refund of postage charges.
Commitment to restore services
The Department assured that every effort is being made to restore US-bound mail services at the earliest possible time, while expressing regret for the inconvenience caused.
