Vijayawada – Andhra Pradesh: TDP leaders in Andhra Pradesh have called for the abolition of the interview process in government job recruitments, urging authorities to fill pending SC/ST backlog positions. They argue that a written-test-only system would ensure transparency and fairness for candidates across the state.
Memorandum submitted to APPSC Chairman
On Monday, TDP Malamahanadu State Convenor Korrapati Suresh and Yanadi Hakkula Porata Samithi State President Tiruveedhu Shankar Prasad met Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Chairperson Anuradha at her office in Vijayawada. They submitted a memorandum outlining their demands and highlighted the need for equitable job opportunities for SC/ST candidates.
Call for written-test-only recruitment
Korrapati Suresh emphasized that the interview process in government job appointments often leads to subjective assessments and potential bias. He suggested that Andhra Pradesh adopt a system based solely on written exams, similar to Telangana’s policy change in 2022. “Eliminating interviews will ensure that only merit and talent are prioritized in job recruitments,” he said.
Filling of SC/ST backlog vacancies
Shankar Prasad voiced concerns about the unfilled SC/ST backlog positions, which have left many unemployed from these communities struggling for fair opportunities. He urged the state to expedite filling these vacancies, addressing years of neglect that have impacted SC/ST job seekers.
APPSC Chairperson’s assurance
APPSC Chairperson Anuradha assured the leaders that she would bring the proposal for canceling the interview process to the government’s attention. Additionally, she confirmed that notifications for SC/ST backlog vacancies would soon be issued, with a commitment to filling these posts promptly.
Push for fair and transparent hiring
The TDP leaders stressed that abolishing the interview process would reduce bias, make the recruitment process more transparent, and offer equal opportunities to qualified candidates from all backgrounds. They highlighted that such reforms would help uplift marginalized groups in Andhra Pradesh and ensure justice in employment.
