AP Cabinet approves six new industrial policies, targets 20 lakh jobs

Andhra Pradesh: In a cabinet meeting chaired by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu on Wednesday, six new industrial policies were approved with a focus on creating 20 lakh jobs in the next five years. The meeting emphasized the state’s commitment to green energy, targeting investments of Rs 10 lakh crore and the creation of 10 lakh jobs in this sector alone.

New industrial policies announced

The approved policies include the AP Industrial Development Policy, AP MSME & Entrepreneur Development Policy, AP Food Processing Policy, AP Electronics Policy, AP Private Parks Policy, and AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy. These policies are designed to foster industrial growth and boost employment opportunities across various sectors.

“Our new industrial policies will operate under the motto ‘1 Family – 1 Entrepreneur.’ The focus should shift towards creating jobs, not seeking them”, emphasized CM Chandra Babu.

Green energy at the forefront

Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s leadership in green energy, CM Chandra Babu, through a detailed PowerPoint presentation, outlined the state’s plan to attract investments in green energy, aiming to surpass other states in this area. The AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy is expected to create 10 lakh jobs and drive significant economic growth through sustainable initiatives.

Job creation and cabinet sub-committee

A special cabinet sub-committee, headed by Minister Nara Lokesh, has been formed to develop a roadmap for achieving the 20 lakh job target. This sub-committee will explore strategic ways to maximize employment opportunities across sectors.

Narcotics Task Force and policy on drug control

A narcotics task force with over 500 personnel will be established to combat narcotics, drugs, and illicit liquor in the state. Additionally, a group of ministers, led by Minister Vangalapudi Anita, will study and make recommendations on drug control policies and victim rehabilitation.
