New Delhi : Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, during a fireside chat at the India Leadership Summit 2024 on Monday, emphasized India’s focus on competency-based education, embracing new technologies, and fostering global collaborations to address future challenges. He was joined by Ryan Roslansky, the CEO of LinkedIn, and Marvin Krislov, the President of Pace University.
India’s educational transformation under NEP 2020
As the National Education Policy 2020 nears its five-year mark, Pradhan highlighted India’s progress in integrating new technologies, promoting learning in Indian languages, and enhancing employability skills. These efforts aim to align Indian education with global standards while fostering innovation and research.
Global partnerships and foreign university campuses
Pradhan stressed India’s readiness to play a key role in solving global challenges by opening doors to foreign universities establishing campuses in the country. This, he believes, will bridge educational gaps and empower the next generation of global citizens.
Focus on competency over degrees
The minister reiterated that India is shifting towards prioritizing competency over degrees, aiming to produce a workforce equipped with practical skills and knowledge for the evolving global market. This approach, he noted, aligns with the aspirations of Indian society and the country’s role as a global growth engine.
