By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu:Bureau Chief

Telangana: Vadlamuri Krishna Swaroop, National Chairman of the Anti-SC Categorization Struggle and President of the Dalit Bahujan Party (DBP), has called for the dissolution of CM Revanth Reddy’s classification committee, formed by the Telangana Congress government. In a press conference held in Hyderabad on Friday, Swaroop announced a series of protests, culminating in a “Chalo Secretariat” siege on September 30.

Demand for immediate dissolution of classification committee

During a press meet at the office of the Parivartana Law Chambers in Hyderabad, Vadlamuri Krishna Swaroop criticized the Telangana Congress government’s decision to form a classification committee. He accused the government of hastily pushing the agenda despite ongoing legal challenges surrounding the issue of SC and ST classification, with hundreds of review petitions still pending in the courts.

Swaroop expressed concerns that the Congress-led government’s move could harm the interests of Dalits and SC communities in Telangana. He demanded the immediate abolition of the committee, warning that failure to do so would result in significant political fallout for the Congress party in the state.

Call for a series of protests

In response to the formation of the classification committee, Swaroop outlined a series of protest actions. The Dalit Bahujan Party, along with other Dalit organizations, plans to burn effigies of Telangana Congress leaders supporting the classification committee, including Revanth Reddy, ministers, and members of the classification committee on September 14. This will mark the beginning of a prolonged agitation against the state government’s stance on classification.

From September 19 to 29, protests will escalate, with efforts to block Congress ministers, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs from engaging in public activities. The campaign will culminate in a massive “Chalo Secretariat” siege on September 30, in which Dalit community leaders and activists will converge on the Secretariat in Hyderabad to demand justice.

Unified fight for justice

Several prominent Dalit leaders and activists attended the meeting and pledged their support to the anti-classification movement. Notable figures included Dr. VL Raju, JN Rao, Gavvala Srikanth, Pabbati Sri Krishna, and S Ashok, Thigala Shekhar, Suryavanshi, Vidyasagar, CH Roja Leela, P Suchandra.
Pendyala Sunil Chandra Rao, K Venkata Rao, Bhupalli Hemalatha, who have long been advocates for the protection of Dalit rights. Women leaders also voiced their concerns over the Congress government’s actions, vowing to stand firm in the fight against what they see as a dilution of Dalit representation in Telangana.

The protest aims to expose the Manuvada Mafia rulers, who, according to Swaroop, are using caste-based classifications to weaken the Dalit communities’ access to political power.

The press conference highlighted the growing dissatisfaction among Dalit communities with the Congress government in Telangana. With a united front of leaders from various public associations, the Dalit Bahujan Party aims to pressure the government into reconsidering its classification policies, signaling an intense political struggle ahead.
