Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: District Superintendent of Police (SP) V Harshavardhan Raju has urged police officers to strengthen their commitment to community policing, emphasizing the need to build public trust through diligent and courteous service. The directives were issued during a monthly crime review meeting held on Wednesday at the Pennar Police Conference Hall.
Enhancing public trust
SP Harshavardhan Raju stressed the importance of performing duties with integrity and respect to foster a positive relationship between the police and the community. He directed officers to engage in visible policing by visiting villages, addressing local issues, and providing timely solutions. The SP highlighted that treating the public with courtesy and understanding their concerns is vital to enhancing the department’s image.
Policing activities and crime prevention
The SP called for stringent checks on public drinking, instructing officers to conduct extensive inspections and register cases against those consuming alcohol in public places. He noted that recent efforts in this area have led to a notable decrease in crime rates and a reduction in complaints received via the Dial 100 service. Additionally, the SP emphasized the need for proactive measures to prevent illegal activities such as cricket betting, matka, and gambling, urging officers to take decisive steps to curb these practices.
Commitment to visible policing
As part of the ongoing strategy to maintain law and order, the SP urged officers to increase their presence in rural areas, ensuring that the concerns of villagers are heard and addressed promptly. This approach, he said, would further reinforce the public trust in the police department and contribute to a safer community.
