PDF urges AP government to expedite teacher recruitment Process !!!

Andhra Pradesh:- Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) has called for an accelerated completion of the District Selection Committee (DSC) process in Andhra Pradesh’s school education sector. They demand the prompt conduct of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) and the subsequent recruitment, well before the previously projected deadline of December.

PDF MLC, I Venkateswara Rao emphasized that expediting this process would significantly benefit both the education sector and the students of the state. He urged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Lokesh to prioritize this initiative.

The state government has recently announced for 16,347 teacher posts, fulfilling a major election promise. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the bifurcated state of Andhra Pradesh, setting a record in its commitment to education.

However, the PDF criticizes the previous government’s actions, which included merging primary schools, cancelling aided posts, and illegitimately announcing 6,100 DSC posts at the end of their term. This, PDF argues, was a morally bad attempt to manipulate the system.

Rao pointed out that after 16 years of struggle, the apprenticeship system was finally abolished. The previous government’s insistence on appointments through this abolished system led to widespread discontent. He labelled this as a grievous misdeed.

The PDF now calls on the new government to fulfill its election promise of abolishing the apprenticeship scheme and conducting recruitment on a regular scale. They advocate for increasing the age limit to 47 and allowing candidates who took the the examinations to be considered for TET and DSC. There is an urgent need to fill specialist teacher posts.

Rao appealed to the government to engage in discussions with teachers’ unions, intellectuals, and academics to restore the state’s education sector. He emphasized that this entire process should be conducted democratically to ensure fairness and transparency.
