Andhra Pradesh:- The demand to withdraw the new education policy introduced by the central government is gaining momentum, with mounting criticisms that both central and state governments are neglecting education. Teachers in Andhra Pradesh are at the forefront, pressing for the resolution of several longstanding issues that they insist must be addressed immediately.

The contentious nature of these reforms was highlighted by Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal’s refusal to implement the New Education Policy.

Key issues outlined by Andhra Pradesh teachers include the cancellation of GO 117 and CPS, the implementation of the 12th PRC and OPS, and the settlement of pending DAs and arrears. Additionally, there is a strong call to increase PET posts in mega DSC.

Critics warn that GO 117 will severely disrupt the rural education sector, disproportionately affecting children from weaker sections. They advocate for the “Talliki Vandanam” scheme to be extended to students studying in government schools and for SGT posts to be open to those with B. Ed qualification.

Teachers are also demanding the removal of apps that cause mental anguish, seeking a return to a stress-free teaching environment. Other demands include promotions for teachers, the clearing of loans, and the extension of necessary facilities, including the minimum time scale, to teachers in KGV and model schools.

According to teachers, over the past five years, they have faced numerous hardships, including house arrests, nights in police stations, and public and social media insults. This has resulted in tremendous social and professional pressure, with some narratives unfairly branding teachers as useless.

Teacher unions and associations have already begun meeting with new ministers, MPs, and MLAs to seek resolution to their pending issues.

The teachers of Andhra Pradesh are appealing to the coalition government to urgently address and resolve these just demands without delay. While the coalition government faces significant challenges, prioritizing these issues is crucial. The fulfillment of the coalition government’s campaign promises would mark a happy ending to this prolonged struggle.
