Women Safety Awareness Program Held in Proddatur, Police Promote Shakti App and Cyber Safety 2026

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen awareness on women’s safety and security, the Proddatur 2 Town Police organized a comprehensive awareness program for women and girl students at the K.C. Pullaiah Skill Foundation Center on Korrapadu Road. The program focused on legal rights, emergency response mechanisms, cybercrime prevention, the POCSO Act, social media safety, and the use of the Shakti App for women’s protection.
Program held under directions of District SP
The awareness initiative was conducted on Monday under the directions of the Kadapa District Superintendent of Police Nachiket Viswanath and the supervision of the Proddatur ASP Vibhu Krishna.
Police officials said the objective of the program was to educate women and young girls about their legal rights, available safety mechanisms, and the importance of promptly reporting incidents of harassment or crime.
Awareness on Women’s Safety Laws and Emergency Services
During the session, police personnel provided detailed information on:
Laws related to women’s safety and protection
Emergency response measures
Utilization of Dial-100 services
Available police support systems
Safety precautions during emergencies
Participants were encouraged to remain alert and seek immediate assistance whenever they face threats or harassment.
Focus on cybercrime prevention and social media safety
Special emphasis was placed on the growing threat of cybercrime targeting women and young people.
Police officials educated participants about:
Online frauds and scams
Social media safety practices
Fake links and phishing attempts
Suspicious phone calls and messages
Methods to safeguard personal information online
The participants were advised not to share sensitive information with unknown individuals and to verify the authenticity of online communications before responding.
POCSO Act and child protection measures explained
The awareness program also included sessions on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Officials explained the legal safeguards available for children and emphasized the importance of reporting offenses against minors without delay. The session aimed to enhance awareness among students and staff regarding child protection laws and reporting mechanisms.
Shakti App promoted as women’s safety tool Proddatur
Speaking on the occasion, Proddatur 2 Town Inspector of Police P. Vamsinath urged women and girls to be aware of their rights and to immediately approach the police whenever they encounter harassment or criminal incidents.
Sub-Inspector S. Mahaboob Basha explained the features and benefits of the Shakti App, a dedicated safety application designed to assist women during emergencies. He also highlighted various helpline services available for women’s protection.
The program witnessed the participation of Guru Brahmaiah, Manager and Principal of K.C. Pullaiah Skill Foundation Center, personnel from the Kadapa Women’s Police Station, members of the Shakti Team and representatives, students and staff of KCPSF.
Police officials stated that similar awareness programs would continue to be organized in educational institutions and public places to strengthen awareness on women’s safety and promote a secure environment for women and children.
