Contract Medical Staff Hold Black Badge Protest At RIMS, Kadapa
Phase-2 of JAC agitation begins as per schedule, duties continue
KADAPA-AP Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor: As scheduled, contract Medical and Para-Medical staff staged a Black Badge protest at the Government General Hospital, RIMS, Kadapa, YSR District on Tuesday, marking the second phase of their state-wide agitation.
A large number of staff nurses, lab technicians, pharmacy officers, ECG technicians, EMTs and other para-medical employees participated in the protest wearing black badges on their white coats, while continuing their regular duties.
Raising slogans and fists in front of the GGH main block, the employees under the banner of Y.S.R Kadapa Medical & Health Contract Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) demanded immediate redressal of their long-pending problems and main demands pertaining to job security and service conditions in the DME, DPH and DSH wings.
The JAC said the Black Badge protest from August 24 to 27 is being observed peacefully without causing any disruption to hospital and patient services. The next phases include lunch-hour protest, human chain, online work shutdown and pen-down protest as per the prior intimation already served to the DCHS and district authorities.
BACKGROUND: Contract Medical and Para-Medical employees working under the Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department in YSR Kadapa district have served a prior intimation for a phase-wise peaceful agitation starting August 21, 2026, alleging long-pending problems and unfulfilled demands.
In a representation addressed to the DCHS, YSR Kadapa and other district authorities, the YSR Kadapa Medical & Health Contract Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC), affiliated to APCSNSC, CLTWA, GCEMTWA and CAORTA, said it will launch protests in a phased manner without affecting emergency services and patient safety.
Who is protesting
According to the JAC, the agitation is led by its Chairman V. Venkata Raj Kumar, Convenor G. Kamal Bee, Co-Chairman P. Vimala and Treasurer G. Lakshmi Devi. The JAC represents contract employees across DME, DPH and DSH wings, including Staff Nurses, Lab Technicians, Pharmacy Officers, ECG Technicians, EMTs, Dialysis Technicians and other para-medical staff.
The committee said despite submitting representations to the concerned authorities earlier, their legitimate demands have not been addressed, forcing them to announce the agitation.
