President Murmu hosts Qatar Amir, strengthens India-Qatar strategic partnership

New Delhi: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, received His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. The visit, marking his second state trip to India, underscored the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between the two nations. A banquet was hosted in his honour, celebrating the growing bilateral relationship.

Strengthening economic and strategic cooperation

Welcoming the Qatari leader, President Murmu highlighted the multi-faceted engagement between India and Qatar, describing both nations as reliable partners in trade, investment, food security, health, culture, and energy. She emphasized the potential for deeper cooperation in innovation, technology, and start-ups, leveraging the unique strengths of both countries.

Commitment to global peace and development

The President underscored the shared responsibility of India and Qatar in working towards peace, progress, and prosperity, not only for their citizens but for the global community. Both leaders agreed that elevating bilateral relations to a ‘strategic partnership’ would pave the way for enhanced collaboration and mutual development.
