Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: The Congress Party has welcomed the Andhra Pradesh government’s move to issue government orders in Telugu along with English. Senior Congress leader Dr. N Tulasireddy applauded the decision but urged further reforms to strengthen Telugu language education and ensure equitable policies for students.

Bilingual orders a positive step

Dr. N Tulasireddy praised the state government for its decision to release government orders in both Telugu and English, emphasizing the significance of the Telugu language in preserving cultural identity and promoting administrative transparency.

Call for withdrawing GO No. 85

While appreciating the bilingual policy, Dr. Tulasireddy called on the government to withdraw Government Order No. 85. He criticized the order, arguing that it undermines the choices and preferences of students and parents in matters of medium of instruction.

Advocacy for Telugu and English mediums in schools

Dr. Tulasireddy urged the government to implement both Telugu and English mediums in school education, with the condition that decisions be made in consultation with students and their parents. He stressed the need for flexibility to meet diverse educational needs while preserving Telugu’s prominence.

Proposal for additional marks for Telugu medium students

Highlighting the challenges faced by students in the Telugu medium, Dr. Tulasireddy suggested awarding additional marks from 3 to 5 to these students in academic assessments and government job applications. This measure, he argued, would incentivize the adoption of Telugu as a medium of instruction and bridge disparities in opportunities.

Congress reaffirms commitment to regional languages

Dr. Tulasireddy reiterated the Congress Party’s commitment to promoting regional languages and cultural heritage while fostering inclusive educational policies. The party, he stated, stands firm in supporting decisions that balance linguistic pride with practical benefits for students and society.
