Ambedkar’s legacy honoured: Calls to protect Constitution from threats

Anantapur – Andhra Pradesh: On the 68th death anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, SC/ST associations of JAC gathered to pay tribute and emphasized the need to protect his legacy against rising threats to constitutional values and equality.
A tribute to the architect of equality
State President of JAC, Sake Hari, led the commemoration by garlanding Ambedkar’s statue, accompanied by organizations SC/ST JAC, Mala Mahanadu, Erukula Praja Hakkula Porata Samiti, and Samata Sainik Dal. The leaders extolled Ambedkar’s enduring impact on Indian society, particularly his role in crafting a Constitution that guarantees equality, freedom, and justice for all citizens.
“Living for the People Is True Service”
Sake Hari invoked Ambedkar’s philosophy, reminding the gathering of the leader’s selfless commitment to the masses. “If you live for yourself, you remain in yourself; if you live for the people, you remain in the people,” Hari stated, urging the community to continue walking in Ambedkar’s footsteps.
Protecting the Constitution from threats
Leaders expressed grave concerns over alleged attempts by “Manuwadis” to undermine the Constitution through amendments. “If they succeed, it will be a big blow to the marginalized sections. It is our collective duty to expose and resist such conspiracies to preserve Ambedkar’s vision of an egalitarian society,” they declared.
Addressing atrocities against marginalized groups
Leaders called for unity in combating injustices against Dalit sub-castes, urging communities to stand against discrimination and oppression wherever it arises. He also criticized the ruling powers for failing to address systemic frauds and instead diverting attention with irrelevant rhetoric.
A collective commitment to Ambedkar’s vision
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to safeguard Ambedkar’s principles and resist any attempts to dilute constitutional guarantees. Leaders, including Obulesu, Sake Chiranjeevi, Kaveti Umamaheswari, Sumalatha, Sugumanchi Srinivasulu, Gummagatta Eswaraiah, Ramakrishna, Venkatesh, Narayanaswamy and others, reiterated their dedication to achieving Ambedkar’s dream of a just and equitable society.
This solemn occasion not only celebrated Ambedkar’s contributions but also served as a rallying call to defend his legacy in the face of ongoing challenges.
