Ameer Babu’s longstanding commitment to TDP sparks Calls for MLC seat

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Since joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Ameer Babu has remained a dedicated and unwavering party worker. He contested as the Kadapa Mayor candidate in 2005 and has served as the State Minority Cell President for four terms. His efforts in uniting minorities across the state and securing their support for TDP in challenging times have been widely recognized. Despite not holding an official post, he has continued to serve the party with steadfast commitment.

Political struggles and leadership role

As the in-charge of Kadapa, Ameer Babu actively opposed the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government by organizing rallies, protests, and public meetings against its policies. In retaliation, he faced 18 cases, multiple arrests, and other hardships. However, his dedication never wavered. He played a crucial role in the 2024 elections, working tirelessly to ensure the victory of Madhavi Reddy, the TDP candidate, in a constituency that had been a stronghold of minority candidates for three decades.

Repeated denials of MLC opportunity

Despite repeated assurances from the party leadership, Ameer Babu has not been granted a Member of Legislative Council (MLC) seat. While TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu had recognized his contributions, the MLC seat has consistently been allotted to other candidates based on party strategy and community representation.

Current political scenario and fresh demands

With TDP securing five MLC seats, including one for Jana Sena’s Naga Babu, the remaining four positions are to be filled by TDP nominees. Supporters and political observers argue that Ameer Babu should now be given an MLC seat in recognition of his long-standing service. Leaders and minority communities across the state are urging Chandrababu Naidu to grant him this opportunity to represent and serve the people officially.

A critical decision for TDP’s future

Supporters warn that overlooking Ameer Babu once again may send a negative message to grassroots party workers and loyalists who have dedicated years to TDP’s growth. Given Naidu’s reputation for political acumen and strategic decision-making, many believe he will recognize Ameer Babu’s contributions and reward his loyalty with an MLC seat. The final decision is expected to have a lasting impact on minority representation within the party and TDP’s standing in Kadapa district.

Social Activist, High Court Advocate Sheikh Amin Peera released a press note emphasizing Ameer Babu’s dedication and urging the TDP leadership to acknowledge his service. He expressed confidence that under Naidu’s leadership, Andhra Pradesh will continue its path of development and inclusivity, ensuring that committed leaders like Ameer Babu receive their due recognition.
