Concerns voiced over merger of Siddavatam, Ontimitta with Annamayya district
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) State Secretary Ravi Shankar Reddy has opposed the merger of Siddavatam and Ontimitta mandals into Annamayya district, stating that residents would be forced to travel over 80 km to reach the district headquarters. He argued that Kadapa, just 20 km away and easily accessible, is the logical administrative centre for these areas.
Questions raised on district reorganisation
Submitting a petition to the Collectorate AO on Saturday, he questioned the rationale behind merging nearby regions with distant districts. He criticised the decision-makers for failing to consider public inconvenience during district reorganisation.
Warning of public opposition
Reddy said that unless the mandals are realigned with Kadapa district, public dissatisfaction will intensify and responsibility will lie with the ruling authorities. Leaders of the Siddavatam Auto Union were present during the submission.
