Amaravati – Andhra Pradesh: State BC, EWS, Handloom, and Textile Minister S Savitha has directed Prohibition and Excise officials to intensify efforts against the illegal cultivation and sale of ganjd (marijuana) in Andhra Pradesh. The directive follows the recent decision by the state government to abolish the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), a move that has been widely welcomed by the Prohibition and Excise Joint Action Committee (JAC).
On Thursday, members of the JAC met with Minister Savitha at her camp office in Tadepalli to express their gratitude for the abolition of the SEB, which they believe will allow them to perform their duties more effectively.
JAC welcomes SEB Abolition
JAC members expressed their appreciation for the decision led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to dismantle the SEB, which they claim had previously hindered their ability to work freely. “With the SEB out of the way, we now have the opportunity to fulfill our duties with greater dedication and without undue interference,” said JAC Chairman Babji Rao. The committee members extended their thanks to both the Chief Minister and Minister Savitha for this significant policy change.
Minister’s commitment to public welfare
During the meeting, Minister Savitha emphasized the government’s commitment to public welfare and urged the Prohibition and Excise officials to focus on eradicating the illegal marijuana trade. “Our government is dedicated to the well-being of the people, and we must take decisive action to stop the illegal sale of ganja, which is leading our youth astray,” Savitha stated. She reiterated the need for strict enforcement to curb the growing menace of marijuana in the state.
JAC pledges support to government’s efforts
The JAC leaders pledged their full support to the government’s initiatives, assuring Minister Savitha that they would carry out their responsibilities with the renewed vigour. “We are committed to achieving the government’s goals and ensuring that the welfare of the people is our top priority,” said JAC Secretary Narasimhulu.
JAC leaders honoured Minister Savitha for her leadership and support. The event was attended by key JAC members, including Co-Chairman Marpa Kotaiah, Superintendent Lavanya, Assistant Commissioner Swathi, and Inspectors Verma and Kameswara Rao.
The abolition of the SEB marks a significant shift in the state’s approach to prohibition and excise enforcement, and the renewed focus on combating the illegal marijuana trade is expected to have a substantial impact on the state’s efforts to protect its youth from the dangers of drug abuse.
