Union Budget favours corporates, ignores AP and Telangana, says CPM !!!

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu : Bureau Chief-South

Andhra Pradesh:- (Union Budget) CPM Konaseema District Convener Kaarem Venkateswara Rao has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Union Budget, labeling it a boon for corporates and a burden on the poor. He criticized Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for failing to provide direct assistance for the construction of Andhra Pradesh’s capital, instead announcing a financial support of Rs 15,000 crores through Multi Lateral Development Agencies, without clarifying whether it is a grant or a loan.

Kaarem condemned the central government for not taking responsibility for the construction of Andhra Pradesh’s capital, highlighting that despite promises over the past decade, projects like the Polavaram irrigation project remain unfunded. He criticized the central government’s repeated but unfulfilled promises to complete Polavaram on time.

He also denounced the budget’s lack of allocation for the Konaseema railway line, calling for an immediate revision of the budget to better serve the needs of the poor. Kaarem pointed out that the budget cuts funding for guaranteed employment programs and fails to include legitimate guarantees for projects like a new railway zone, Kadapa steel plant, metro systems, and educational and medical institutions.

He expressed concern over the BJP’s neglect in allocating funds under the Apportionment Act for the last ten years and highlighted that the budget did not meet the expectations for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Despite allocations for tourism, flood prevention measures, and other initiatives in many states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were conspicuously absent from the list.

Kaarem urged the state government, Telugu Desam, and Janasena parties as they are coalition partners, to exert political pressure on the Center and the BJP to secure clear funding commitments. He called on Andhra Pradesh MPs to fight for justice in the budget and ensure that the state’s needs are addressed.
