By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu:Bureau Chief

Kalyanadurgam – Andhra Pradesh: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of SC/ST associations has urged the government to transparently utilize sanctioned funds for welfare schemes and fulfill promises made to Dalits and tribals, warning of intensified protests if negligence continues.

JAC State President Saake Hari has called upon the government, which proudly claims to have sanctioned thousands of crores of rupees for SC/ST corporations, to publicly disclose detailed plans for the allocation of these funds and provide clarity on the implementation of welfare schemes aimed at these communities.

Call for reinstatement of welfare schemes

Saake Hari stressed the importance of sustained struggles to ensure the welfare of SCs and STs, vowing to reintroduce these schemes through protests. Speaking in front of the RDO office in Kalyanadurgam on Thursday, he warned the coalition government of repercussions if pre-election commitments remain unfulfilled.

Neglect of constitutional mandates

Hari expressed disappointment over the government’s failure to prioritize economic, political, and social advancement for SCs and STs as outlined in the Constitution. He emphasized the need for decisive action to address systemic neglect.

Demands for land, employment, and skill development

The JAC outlined specific demands, including:

Distribution of three acres of land to every landless SC/ST family.
Creation of employment opportunities for unemployed youth.
Support for Dalit and tribal farmers through boreholes, electricity pipelines, and land development to enhance their participation in the dairy industry.
Provision of free skill training programs for SC/ST youth.

Concerns over fund diversion and backlog vacancies

The JAC criticized the diversion of SC and ST sub-plan funds, warning of severe consequences if such practices persist. They also demanded the immediate filling of backlog vacancies for SC/STs that have accumulated over the years.

Statewide movement planned

The JAC announced plans for a statewide movement to pressurize the government into reinstating and properly implementing welfare schemes for SCs and STs.

The program witnessed participation from JAC leaders, including Taluka President Chelimappa and district leaders Dona Thimmappa, Narayana, Ramachandra Chennamalla, Nagaraju, and Mallesh, who pledged to support the movement for justice.
