Jaipur Hospital Fire Tragedy: 8 Patients Dead as Families Claim Staff Ignored Early Warnings

Editorial

Jaipur: A devastating fire at a private hospital in Jaipur late Sunday night claimed the lives of eight patients and left several others injured. The incident occurred in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where many of the victims were undergoing treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have started due to a short circuit in the air-conditioning system. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after nearly two hours of intense operation.

Eyewitnesses and relatives have accused hospital staff of negligence, alleging that early warnings were ignored. “We reported a burning smell and sparks several times, but no one responded until smoke filled the ICU,” said one grieving family member.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed deep sorrow and ordered a high-level inquiry into the tragedy. The state government has announced compensation for the victims’ families and assured strict action against those responsible.

Authorities have sealed the hospital for investigation, while fire safety officials have directed all hospitals in Jaipur to immediately inspect and upgrade their fire safety systems.
