In the Raniganj region of West Bengal, Indian Socio Income and Grievance Helping Trust (INSIGHT) organized a social support program ahead of the upcoming Makar Sankranti festival. The initiative aimed to ensure that underprivileged and economically vulnerable families could celebrate the traditional festival with dignity and joy.
As part of the program, essential festival-related items were distributed to needy families. These included flattened rice (chura), tilkut, and other materials commonly associated with Makar Sankranti celebrations. These items hold cultural significance, as the festival symbolizes new beginnings, respect for traditions, and social harmony.
Members of INSIGHT emphasized that festivals are not just occasions for celebration but also opportunities to strengthen community bonds and promote the spirit of mutual support. With this belief, the organization carried out the initiative at the grassroots level so that no family feels neglected during the festive season.
The event was conducted in the presence of Executive Director Mrs. Poonam Upadhyay along with other members of the organization. During the program, the team interacted with local residents, listened to their concerns, understood their challenges, and extended warm wishes for the upcoming festival.
Speakers at the event stated that service is not limited to distributing aid. True service also means standing with people, respecting their traditions, and supporting them with empathy and responsibility.
INSIGHT reiterated its broader mission to reach every section of society through social, cultural, and humanitarian initiatives. The organization continues to work toward bringing positive change to people’s lives through meaningful community programs.
The Raniganj event delivered a clear message: when service and tradition go hand in hand, the true joy of festivals reaches everyone.
The organization affirmed that it will continue conducting such initiatives in the future with the same commitment and social responsibility.
