NHAI Chairman reviews Kerala Highway Projects, focuses on quality

Kerala: To evaluate the status and challenges of National Highway development in Kerala, NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav conducted a high-level field inspection in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts on Saturday. The visit aimed to assess structurally sensitive stretches, drainage concerns, and to ensure quality construction aligned with public convenience.
Field inspection covers key project locations
The Chairman visited crucial sites including Enchakkal, Kazhakuttom, Chembakamangalam, Kottayam, and Mevaram. These locations, identified for vertical high-cut sections and complex water flow issues, were closely evaluated by the team. The inspection was aimed at addressing slope stability and improving drainage to prevent structural vulnerabilities and ensure longevity of the infrastructure.
He was accompanied by technical experts from the concessionaire, Independent Engineer, the Thiruvananthapuram Project Director, and the NHAI Regional Officer for Kerala.
Review meeting to strategize project progress
A high-level review meeting has been scheduled with NHAI Project Directors, contractors, consultants, and concessionaires involved in highway projects across Kerala. The focus will be on expediting timelines, improving construction standards, enhancing monitoring protocols, and reducing inconvenience to commuters.
The Chairman is expected to outline a roadmap for streamlined execution and better accountability in project implementation.
Chief Secretary meeting to resolve bottlenecks
To address systemic and inter-departmental coordination issues, the NHAI Chairman will also meet Kerala’s Chief Secretary. The agenda includes resolving project delays, improving cooperation among agencies, and devising strategic plans for ongoing and future highway initiatives in the state.

Reaffirming NHAI’s mission, the Chairman emphasized the organization’s commitment to developing a world-class National Highway network. With a focus on safety, quality, and timely completion, NHAI is aiming to deliver a smooth and reliable travel experience for highway users across Kerala and the country.
