Tadipatri ASP educates students on cyber safety and legal protections

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Tadipatri – Andhra Pradesh: Tadipatri ASP Rohit Kumar Chaudhary urged students to stay vigilant against cyber scams, drug abuse, and crimes against women and children. Speaking at an awareness seminar held at Gates College under Pedavadaguru Police Station on Tuesday, he emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious or criminal activity to parents and authorities without fear.

Rising cyber crimes and Social media risks

With the increasing use of social media, young people are falling victim to cyber crimes at an alarming rate, ASP Chaudhary warned. He advised students to be cautious of online fraudsters who manipulate and deceive them for personal gain. “If you face a problem, however small, do not hesitate to inform your parents and seek their help,” he said.

POCSO Act and protection against abuse

Highlighting the provisions of the POCSO Act, ASP Chaudhary explained that individuals found guilty of sexual offenses against minors face severe punishments, including life imprisonment. He encouraged students to report any form of harassment—whether at home, school, or in public spaces—without fear. “Recognizing good and bad touch is crucial in identifying potential threats,” he added, urging students to be alert and proactive in seeking protection.

Preventing drug abuse: Role of the Eagle Task Force

The ASP also addressed the growing threat of drug abuse among students and the legal consequences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. He informed the students about the Eagle Task Force, a special unit in the district that takes swift action against drug-related activities. “If you suspect drug use in schools, colleges, or villages, call 1972, and the Eagle Task Force will respond immediately,” he assured.

Police helpline and student safety

ASP Chaudhary reminded students that law enforcement is always ready to help. He urged them to use emergency helplines Dial-100/112 to report any distress or security concerns. “The police are here to protect you. Your safety is our priority,” he affirmed.

The awareness program was attended by Peddavadaguru Circle Inspector (CI) Ramasubbaiah, Sub-Inspector (SI) Anjaneulu, College MD Raghunatha Reddy, Principal Sudhakar, and other dignitaries.
