Ranbir Kapoor honours Raj Kapoor’s Legacy at IFFI

Panaji: Ranbir Kapoor, the grandson of legendary actor-director Raj Kapoor, paid a heartfelt tribute to his grandfather at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), highlighting the timeless appeal of his films and the ongoing efforts to preserve his cinematic legacy.
Ranbir Kapoor pays tribute to Raj Kapoor
Ranbir Kapoor, along with veteran filmmaker Rahul Rawail, participated in a special session at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to honour the centenary of Raj Kapoor’s birth. The session delved into the iconic filmmaker’s significant contributions to Indian cinema and his enduring legacy.
A timeless legacy
Ranbir Kapoor emphasized the universal appeal of Raj Kapoor’s films, citing classics like ‘Awara,’ ‘Mera Naam Joker,’ and ‘Shree 420.’ He noted how these films addressed social issues like casteism, greed, and women’s rights, showcasing Raj Kapoor’s visionary approach to filmmaking.
Preserving cinematic heritage
The actor also discussed the ongoing efforts to restore Raj Kapoor’s films in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), National Film Archives of India (NFAI), and the Film Heritage Foundation. Ten films have already been restored and are set to be released in December 2024.
A call to action for future generations
Ranbir Kapoor urged aspiring actors to find their unique voice and draw inspiration from great artists. He also emphasized the importance of using cinema as a platform to address societal issues and advocate for positive change.
