PM Modi honours Raj Kapoor’s legacy, urges Kapoor family to tap Central Asia market

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a great interaction with the Kapoor family on the eve of Raj Kapoor’s centenary celebrations, honoring the legendary actor’s immense contribution to Indian cinema and his role in establishing India’s soft power globally.
Modi pays tribute to Raj Kapoor
Kapoor family met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including Reema Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, and Armaan Jain, Karishman Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhat, to commemorate the centenary of Raj Kapoor’s birth. Modi acknowledged Raj Kapoor’s significant role in shaping India’s global image, particularly in Central Asia, where he continues to be a beloved figure.
A call to tap Central Asia
The Prime Minister urged the Kapoor family to produce a film centered around Raj Kapoor’s life and legacy, targeting the Central Asian market. He highlighted the immense potential of Indian cinema in the region and emphasized the need to connect with younger generations there.
A shared love for cinema
During the meeting, Modi shared personal anecdotes about Raj Kapoor’s impact on him and the Indian public. He recalled watching the film “Phir Subah Hogi” with his party members after an electoral defeat, finding inspiration in its message of hope.
Kapoor family’s tribute
Reema Kapoor expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for honoring the Kapoor family and Raj Kapoor’s legacy. She praised Modi’s role as a global ambassador for India. Ranbir Kapoor announced the upcoming retrospective of Raj Kapoor’s films, which will be screened across India.
