By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu : Bureau Chief-South

Andhra Pradesh:- The nationwide strike of educational institutions demanding the cancellation of the NEET exam was marked as a success in Ramachandrapuram of Dr. B R Ambedkar Konaseema District on Thursday. PYL district leader V. Bhima Sankaram, IFTU leader Chinta Rajareddy, and PDSU leader Prashanth and Karunakaran led the charge, demanding the immediate abolition of the NEET exam and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmender Pradhan.

The leaders criticized the central government’s handling of the NEET exam, alleging that exorbitant fees ranging from 30 to 40 lakh rupees were extracted from each student, coupled with rampant paper leaks. They accused the government of negligence and inaction regarding these serious issues. Despite several southern states passing resolutions to cancel the NEET exam, the Andhra Pradesh government has remained silent on the matter. The protesters urged the state government to join the fight against the central government’s flawed policies.

The demonstrators demanded the immediate dismantling of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam, accusing it of perpetuating corruption and undermining the prospects of students from poor, middle-class, and weaker sections. They held the Union Education Minister morally responsible for the mishandling of the NEET exam and called for his resignation.

The protest leaders highlighted the central government’s commercial approach to medical education, which they claimed exploits students and perpetuates inequality. They insisted that the government must change its attitude and take immediate action to cancel the compromised examination process.

Additionally, the protestors called for the dropping of illegal charges against student union leaders at universities, the reopening of closed schools across the country, and the payment of overdue scholarship and fee reimbursement arrears.

The bandh saw full participation from government, corporate, private, and educational institutions in Ramachandrapuram, marking it as a successful protest. PDSU leaders Harish, Yashwant, Veera Babu, Satya Sai, Gautam, and others were present at the event, reinforcing the call for justice and systemic change in the education sector.
