RPC Alleges Irregularities in Andhra Pradesh’s Spandana Grievance System, Seeks Administrative Reforms

Rajahmundry, AP: The Rashtriya Praja Congress (RPC) has alleged serious irregularities in the implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Government’s Spandana (Public Grievance Redressal System – PGRS), claiming that the programme’s objective is being undermined by administrative lapses, corruption and procedural violations. Addressing a party meeting in Rajahmundry on Sunday, RPC Founding President Meda Srinivas urged Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to initiate comprehensive reforms to restore public confidence in the grievance redressal mechanism.

‘Spandana losing public trust’

Speaking at the party’s weekly meeting, Meda Srinivas alleged that instead of providing timely relief to citizens, the Spandana programme has increasingly become a source of public dissatisfaction. He claimed that officials in several departments were not addressing grievances sincerely, resulting in delays and ineffective disposal of complaints.

According to him, the programme’s original objective of ensuring prompt grievance redressal is being diluted due to administrative inefficiency.

Allegations against PGRS functioning

The RPC leader alleged that in many cases officials close complaints by marking them as “resolved” on the online portal without conducting proper inquiries or informing complainants of the findings.

He further alleged that some complaints are referred back to the very officials against whom allegations have been made, causing distress to petitioners and undermining the credibility of the system.

Srinivas also claimed that in certain instances complainants’ signatures were allegedly forged or complaints shown as withdrawn without their consent, and called for a thorough inquiry into such allegations.

Criticism of police and revenue departments

Srinivas levelled specific allegations against the Police and Revenue departments, claiming that complainants often face intimidation and harassment instead of receiving assistance. He alleged that some grievances are disposed of without proper investigation and that victims are discouraged from pursuing their complaints.

He also accused some officials of misusing the grievance mechanism for personal gain and called for strict action against those found abusing their authority.

Calls for systemic reforms

The RPC president urged the State Government to undertake comprehensive reforms in the implementation of the PGRS and strengthen accountability within government departments. He said disciplinary action should be initiated against officials found guilty of corruption, procedural violations or misuse of authority to restore public confidence in the grievance redressal system.

The meeting was presided over by RPC Senior Secular Pendyala Kamaraju and attended by several party leaders and members.
