Poor Families Seek Restoration of Long-Pending House Sites in Pichukalapalem

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Palnadu – Andhra Pradesh: Residents of Pichukalapalem village in Savalyapuram Mandal of Palnadu district have renewed their demand for the restoration of house sites allotted to them more than two decades ago, alleging that the lands have been illegally encroached upon. Responding to the villagers’ appeal, Rashtriya Praja Congress (RPC) Palnadu District President R.K. Naidu submitted a representation to the Mandal Tahsildar on Wednesday, urging immediate action to identify genuine beneficiaries and restore possession of the plots.

House sites allotted in 1999 yet to benefit poor families

According to villagers, the government had distributed house-site pattas to poor families in Pichukalapalem in 1999 with the objective of enabling them to construct their own homes. However, many beneficiaries were unable to build houses due to financial hardships prevailing at the time. As a result, several families continue to reside in rented accommodations and temporary shelters even today.

Encroachment allegations spark fresh demand

Villagers alleged that the sites originally allotted to them have been encroached upon by certain individuals over the years. They stated that despite bringing the matter to the attention of authorities on multiple occasions, no concrete action has been taken so far. With the availability of government housing assistance schemes, the beneficiaries now wish to construct houses on their allotted lands and are seeking official intervention to reclaim their plots.

Representation submitted to Tahsildar

Acting on the villagers’ request, R.K. Naidu met the Mandal Tahsildar and submitted a formal representation seeking a land survey and a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged encroachments. He urged officials to identify the legitimate beneficiaries and ensure that the house sites are handed over to them without further delay.

‘Rights of the poor must be protected’

Speaking on the occasion, R.K. Naidu strongly condemned the alleged encroachment of lands earmarked for economically weaker sections. He said it was unfortunate that families who had received pattas decades ago were still waiting to realize their dream of owning a house.

He emphasized that protecting the rights of poor beneficiaries is the responsibility of the administration and called for immediate corrective measures to ensure justice.

Assurance of inquiry by revenue officials

According to Naidu, the Tahsildar responded positively to the representation and assured that a survey and detailed inquiry would be conducted into the matter. The villagers expressed hope that the long-pending issue would finally be resolved and that eligible beneficiaries would receive possession of their allotted sites.

RPC vows continued support

R.K. Naidu reiterated that the Rashtriya Praja Congress would continue to stand with the affected families until justice is delivered. He stated that the party would approach higher authorities and intensify its agitation if necessary to secure the rights of the poor.

Villagers and local party leaders participated in the representation programme.
