President Murmu inaugurates New Delhi World Book Fair

New Delhi: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the New Delhi World Book Fair 2025 on Saturday, emphasizing the transformative power of reading. She highlighted the role of books in bridging cultures and urged efforts to cultivate reading habits, especially among children.

Addressing the gathering, the President stressed that reading is not just a hobby but a means to connect diverse languages and cultures. She expressed appreciation for the fair’s representation of literature from various Indian languages and international publications, calling it an opportunity for book lovers to explore global literature in one place.

Encouraging young minds to read beyond syllabi

President Murmu urged students to explore books beyond academic syllabi, stating that reading diverse subjects can help children discover their potential and become well-rounded individuals.

Promoting children’s literature as a national priority

Emphasizing the need for more books tailored for children, she called upon elders to instill a love for reading in younger generations. She described it as a collective duty to nurture future readers, ensuring that children develop a lifelong habit of engaging with literature.
