Poor road access hampers patient care at RIMS general hospital
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Patients and attendants at RIMS General Hospital are struggling with unsafe and muddy roads, raising concerns about accessibility to critical treatment facilities during the rainy season.
Patient movement severely affected
Madagalam Prasad, City Executive Member of the Rayalaseema Communist Party, questioned how patients in serious conditions could be shifted in stretchers and wheelchairs on impassable roads. He said the situation becomes worse during rains, making it nearly impossible for attendants to move patients between hospital blocks.
RIMS infrastructure gaps
On Saturday, Prasad and his team toured the areas around the RIMS OPD. He observed that hundreds of patients from different areas depend on the hospital, yet they face severe hardship in reaching the super specialty block from the main hospital building due to poor road conditions.
Government’s failure highlighted
Prasad criticized the government, pointing out that while crores of rupees were spent on constructing impressive buildings, basic amenities like proper internal roads remain neglected. He called it “very sad” that daily-use roads for officials and patients were overlooked.
Appeal to authorities
The Communist Party leader urged concerned authorities to act immediately and lay proper roads so that patients can access better healthcare without unnecessary hurdles. Party members Vijay Kumar and Tulsi Ram also participated in the visit.
