By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Vijayawada: Republican Party of India (RPI) National President Yashwant Rao Bhimrao Ambedkar, grandson of Dr. B R Ambedkar, declared in Vijayawada that the RPI would fight for the marginalized in Andhra Pradesh, unlike mainstream parties which serve the interests of the wealthy.

RPI announces new state leadership

At a meeting held at Ailapuram Hotel in Gandhinagar, Vijayawada, the Republican Party of India unanimously appointed Uppuleti Devi Sri Prasad as the Andhra Pradesh President. He was formally handed the appointment letter by Yashwant Ambedkar.

‘Mainstream parties work for the rich’

Addressing a press conference, Yashwant Ambedkar said, “All parties in Andhra Pradesh work for the rich, while our party works for SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities.” He emphasized that RPI is not a party of individual leaders but one focused on people’s welfare and Ambedkarite principles.

Dalit funds misused, welfare corrupted

Yashwant Ambedkar criticized successive state governments for allegedly diverting welfare funds meant for Dalits and engaging in corruption under the guise of development. He reiterated that the RPI would grow in Andhra Pradesh by sticking to its ideological roots and fighting for justice and equality.

Call for socio-political revolution

Newly appointed state president Uppuleti Devi Sri Prasad promised to uphold the party’s principles and work towards social and political transformation. He accused governments of denying constitutionally granted rights to the marginalized and said that change will only come through a social revolution based on Ambedkarite ideology.

Allegations against current government and leadership

Devi Sri Prasad claimed that atrocities against Dalits and tribals were ongoing in the state, alleging that the Dalits had been expelled from the Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s constituency. He also criticized attempts to label Pastor Praveen Pagadala’s murder as an accident, and denounced politically motivated SC classification that creates divisions among Dalits.

RPI to contest all constituencies

Stating that justice for Dalits can only be achieved through Ambedkar’s ideals, Uppuleti Devi Sri Prasad announced that the Republican Party of India would contest in every assembly and parliamentary constituency in Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming elections. He urged people to protect the Constitution and reject Manuvadi ideologies.

Leaders felicitated at the event

As part of the program, Yashwant Ambedkar and Uppuleti Devi Sri Prasad were honored with garlands. Several RPI leaders including Telugu States In-charge Major Chandrakanth, Bonigala Pradeep, Bandlamudi Stalin, Nallapu Neelambaram, Pilli Raju, and Bhushanam were present.
